Re-Examination Limits

A new Application Booklet and full testing fee must be submitted each time a candidate applies.  

A candidate may take the OTC®/OT-SC Examination a total of three (3) consecutive times.  If after three (3) consecutive attempts the candidate is still unsuccessful, the candidate must wait a total of six (6) months from the date of the last attempt before being eligible to apply again.  

Candidates cannot retake any examination during the same month they failed. 

Candidates may retake the OTC®/OT-SC Examination any other month the examination is offered.

Attention to All Immigrants, Including Orthopaedic Surgeons From Another Country:

You should be aware that employment for two (2) years as an Orthopaedic Technologist in an American Hospital must be completed before you can sit for the OTC® examination.

The NBCOT is not set up to assess foreign credentials before or after you arrive in America.  

The NBCOT is not a source for training or for employment services.
